2-8-11

Here is a look at the remaining players in the Sounders pre-season camp in Arizona, and some news and notes of the upcoming games the Sounders have this week.(watch the video at the end of the clip to see Seattle's first goal of the pre-season)

After this weeks 3 games against RSL, Columbus, and Chivas the Sounders will have a better idea of who they will let go.

MLS is growing, new teams are coming in the league, some players are getting paid a livable salary, and TV contracts are starting to be valuable, soccer specific stadiums are being built and fan bases formed, all with a little bit of growing pains.

Tomorrow is an International day on the FIFA calendar, many friendlies and you should be able to catch the games online here.

They were kicked off TV for being sexiest but that didn't stop them from getting new jobs where they just continue talking!!

It's the Rumor & Gossip season for MLS teams, they have until April 15th to sign players. One name that has popped up recently is a guy that could bring his goal flipping celebrations to NYC!

I am going to start the blog off today with a video that is not soccer related but very very funny. We all have seen halftime shows at various games and this one is no different except that the guy dunking the ball does something I have never seen before!

When you have Billions of dollars what do you do with it? Charity, Philanthropy, buy yourself a title from England, and then buy a team that plays in Welfare Park!

Real Madrid 4 – Real Sociedad 1 (La Liga, February 6, 2011)

Over the weekend Newcastle came back from a 4-0 deficit to Arsenal, Arsenal was up 4-0 within 26 minutes and the game looked all but over, but that is why they play the game as some will say and in the second half a red card and 4 goals later it's tied with 3 minutes left. Let's take a look at the "Top 10 biggest comebacks in recent history"

Valencia 2 – Hercules 0 (La Liga, February 6, 2011)

Arsenal's Goal of the Month for January, Enjoy!

Barcelona 3 – Atletico Madrid 0 (La Liga, February 5, 2011)

I am a season ticket holder for the Sounders, if they gave me the option to freeze my ticket price for the next 10 years I would take it!

Athletic Bilbao 3 – Sporting Gijon 0 (La Liga, February 5, 2011)

David Beckham isn't returning to the LA Galaxy just yet, he may still be angry that the Galaxy didn't let him have his loan to Tottenham like he wanted. It's his last year on his 5 year $250 million dollar contract and I think we can all say it hasn't been what he expected!!

Almeria 3 – Espanyol 2 (La Liga, February 5, 2011)

If you follow soccer and the Sounders you know that the fans like to show their support with signs, pictures, and chants. One team in Switzerland takes it a step further!

Getafe 4 – Deportivo La Coruna 1 (La Liga, February 5, 2011)

Derby's and Rivalries are what make sport, in Manchester the city is divided into the blue side and red side. Friday night will be a party before Saturdays title deceider!!

Osasuna 1 – Mallorca 1 (La Liga, February 5, 2011)

John O'Brien did it at 14, Giuseppe Rossi did it at 13, another kid Bobby Wood did it at 13. These players moved to Europe on their own and established themselves in the soccer world, one day they can stay and do that in America!

Villarreal 0 – Levante 1 (La Liga, February 5, 2011)

It happened to the French National team right before the world cup, a prostitute outted half the team as patrons. Now in Italy the Escort has done the same on National TV!

Zaragoza 1 – Racing Santander 1 (La Liga, February 5, 2011)

Often I post misses, tackles, hacks, and comical things that happen on a soccer field. This next video will fall under Tackle & Miss of the Week, Last week Adam Rooney (No relation to Wayne) had a chance to claim a hattrick in Iverness' 5-1 victory over Morton but there was one small problem, the ball didn't cooperate!

While many were flapping there lips at the incredible number of goals scored in the Premier League last weekend, the highest scoring match in top flight world football came in little old Finland where the meeting of RoPS and JJK in cup produced an amazing eleven goals.

Perhaps even more noticeable than eleven goals though was the complete lack of atmosphere at the game.

Facing off in the Finnish Cup, the sides met in an indoor arena which was populated by fans literally standing on the touchline around the Astroturf pitch. That gave off a pre-season friendly vibe, with the screams and chat between the players and the coaches clearly audible under the dome. In turn, much of the sting was sucked out of the crazy game which ended RoPS 5 – JJk 6.

JJK’s hero was Jani Virtanen (pictured). The blonde attacker used his silky left foot to curl home two fine free-kicks while cashing in on another two goals in the victory.

As for RoPS, aside from their five goals the most interesting aspect of their game was the huge Zambian influence in the team. More than half the team were from the southern African country, with Stephen Kunda, Chanda Mwaba, Chris Musonda, Godfrey Chibanga, Nchimunya Mweetwa and Lawrence Lubinda all in the first team.
