Seattle is back in training in preparation for this weekends Cascade Summit. Portland comes to town and plays Seattle Friday, Vancouver will play Seattle Sunday with all games at Starfire.

Lamar Neagle took the road less traveled for his chance and it paid off with his signing with the Sounders yesterday, he previously worked for the Sounders in a very different capacity.

Here is some quotes from Coach Sigi and GM Hanauer. Vancouver is getting some good support for their new team.

The Sounders are pretty deep at all positions, the question is what combo's will produce goals since that has been a real problem for the team.

Manchester City 3 – Aston Villa 0 (FA Cup 5th round, March 2, 2011)

If you follow football from England you know the term "Hardman" Vinnie Jones is one of those types, now he is a Hollywood type and plays/coaches for a team called Hollywood FC in the adult leagues in Los Angeles. He gives a rousing halftime speech (known as the hairdryer in England)

Arsenal 5 – Leyton Orient 0 (FA Cup 5th round replay, March 2, 2011)

They are not suppose to score, hell they are not suppose to leave the 18 yard box, but when they do and when they score they are celebrated! Lets look at the top 3 "Goalscoring Goalkeepers"

The two Canadian teams in MLS are having trouble, Vancouver has lost a player to a lower division rival, while Toronto has had a player walk out during training and not return.

Valencia 0 – Barcelona 1 (La Liga, March 2, 2011)

In a sign that things could be changing a bit for the USMNT the president of US Soccer has contacted a former national team coach for the position of Technical Director of US Soccer.

Villarreal 1 – Hercules 0 (La Liga, March 2, 2011)

The Scottish FA Cup Old Firm derby was full of incident in a goalless first half, with El Hadji Diouf hugely involved. Diouf began the game on the receiving end of a late, unpunished foul from Daniel Majstorovic, however things turned much nastier later in the half as Diouf got into a heated verbal exchange with Bhoys boss Neil Lennon on the touchline. That forced the referee to give a stern warning to both Ally McCoist and Lennon as the match threatened to spill out of control. Georgios Samaras had the chance of the right at the death when he missed from point-blank range. The bad blood continued even after the whistle was blown as the players argued as they exited down the tunnel. Three minutes after the break Celtic took the lead, Marc Wilson scored at the second attempt after an incredible initial clearance on the line from Papac. Just after the hour mark Goergios Samaras smacked the post. Deep in injury-time Madjid Bougherra was sent-off for a second booking and preceded to try and stick the second yellow back in the pocket of referee Calum Murray. And after the final whistle there was still time for Ally McCoist & Neil Lennon to square off. Video & Analysis below

Celtic 1 – Rangers 0 (Scottish Cup, March 2, 2011)

In England it is courtesy that the managers shake hands after the game (no matter win, loss, or draw, and in earlier times they shared a drink after the game) Fulham played Manchester City last week and the managers touched fingers and then shared words, apparently lack of eye contact is big!!

Young Boys 3 – FC Zurich 4 (AET) (Swiss Cup, March 2, 2011)

Pundits give their opinion and they predict, as fans we listen agree, disagree, and curse them! One Pundit in England has predicted the outcome of the 2010/2011 EPL season. (I disagreed and then cursed) then I read this article and felt like we should can Houllier, wait Liverpool did that already!

Sibir 0 – Spartak Moscow 2 (Russian Cup, March 3, 2011)

If you have followed the blog you know I think to throw a few history lessons out about players and tams from the past. In the 1950's there was a team that came out of the easter bloc (communist part of europe) known as the "Mighty Magyars" for the best part of six years Gusztáv Sebes’ Hungary thrilled audiences across Europe with their innovative and unique style, going down in history as one of the finest sporting collectives there has ever been.

Atletico-MG 8 – Iape 1 (Copa do Brasil, March 2, 2011)

Rumor did not turn out to be true and CONCACAF will NOT be receiving an extra birth to the 2014 World Cup, there will still be a 4th play-in spot for CONCACAF.

Palmeiras 5 – Comercial-PI 1 (Copa do Brasil, March 2, 2011)

Last Tuesday a crazy match was witnessed in the Argentinean fifth tier as referee Damien Rubino flashed a ridiculous 36 red cards during the clash between Claypole and Victoriano Arenas.

Goal of the Week (it's Futsal but still nice)
