When the Sounders need him most, Fredy Montero generally responds. Seattle’s Designated Player rose to the occasion again in Vancouver on Saturday night, scoring twice to give the Sounders a 3-1 victory and possession of the Cascadia Cup.

Big win in Vancouver over the weekend, claiming a playoff spot and the "Cascadia Cup" for the fans. Here is the post game notes.

Their club has already qualified for the postseason. But they host Mexican side Morelia in a decisive match in the CONCACAF Champions League on Wednesday and then face Real Salt Lake on the weekend in a match which Landon Donovan says could clinch another major trophy.

“Our focus now is on Wednesday,” Donovan said. “Put everything into Wednesday. It's a must-win game, and then a big one against Salt Lake. And we think if we can win that game Saturday, the Supporters' Shield is ours.”

If you have a troubled past that may affect your ability to work, it's customary to inform a new employer of the situation. Unfortunately, Guido Kocer, a 23-year-old forward playing in the 2. Bundesliga, neglected this concept when he signed for Erzgebirge Aue this year. Imagine their surprise when they learned he could be heading to prison for between three and fifteen years for armed robbery!

Columbus Crew 0 – LA Galaxy 1 (MLS, September 24, 2011)

The "Americans Abroad" did very well over the weekend, some scored goals, some had assists, and some road the pine. Second look here.

What a poor, poor bastard!

19-year-old Olhanense striker Salvador Agra had a Sunday he’ll never forget; once he’s regained his facilities and re-watched the footage, that is.

Facing off against Uniao Leiria in the Portueguse top flight on Sunday, the young forward suffered a horrible injury when Leiria defender Edson clattered him with a knee to his temple in the 40th minute.

Scarily, Agra immediately hit the ground like a fallen stone after absorbing his head-crushing blow. It looked like a possible nightmare scenario could be on the cards, and several Leiria players tried to help the panicked situation by removing their tops and fanning the unconscious Agra.

Eventually, during a tense nine minute stoppage, the medical team brought on the stretcher as they sought to ferry Agra to hospital by ambulance. But amid all the concern and worry, the medics failed to work as a unit as they shipped Agra off the pitch.

That lead to a world class FAIL and the unfortunate teenager was horrifically dropped on his head for a second time in quick succession.

Happily, according to local reports Agra suffered no brain and neck damage and he is expected to make a full recovery.

It was June 2003 when Roman Abramovich, at the time just 32 years old, became the multi-millionaire owner of Chelsea determined to immediately turn them into a major footballing force on both the domestic and international front. Eight years on, another member of that class of ’66, his fellow Russian Suleyman Kerimov, is investing heavily in the previously unknown quantity of Anzhi harbouring the exact same ambition. So, is the East about to finally conquest the summit of Europe by means of some traditional Western policies?

We see it every once in a while, someone scoring from the halfway line during a game. Usually they catch the keeper to far out and drive a shot towards goal hoping to catch them. This shot from midfield is different because the guy scores with his head, yup from midfield with his head.

Five things we learned from the Premier League this weekend are?
