The Sounders play Chivas USA tomorrow night at Qwest Field, with a win they would hit 48 points in the league table and surpass their mark of 47 points from the 2009 season, and still have one more game to get over 50 this year. As it stand Seattle is the 4th seed in the western division and we would play LA Galaxy in the first round, if San Jose finishes ahead of us we could drop to 5th or 6th in the West and play either Columbus or New York. All that said these last two games are very much about playoff positioning .
Match of the Day 360 gives us a behind the scenes look at game day preparations for the US Open Cup Final between Seattle and Columbus. Seattle are Champions Again!
Current Seattle center back Jeff Parke has been through a lot the last two years, suspended by MLS, playing in the USL, trying his hand in Europe, and lots of doubts all around. In the end he is a stronger person and starting on a winning team, and proving his worth!!
Showboat
The USA just played two games last week a 2-2 draw with Poland, and a 0-0 draw with Columbia. Bob Bradley gave a few players their first caps and also a few key players were absent. This left us with questions that should be answered sooner rather than later!
Old School Goal of the Week!!
With Seattle's two biggest historical rivals coming into the league in 2011 the expansion draft becomes a very important part of the rivalry. Who does Seattle protect, who does Vancouver and Portland take?
Blooper/Bike ride of the Week
In America we have always been proud of our own identity, be it in sport, politics, etc.. We are a unique populace. My question is why then do we feel that in the one sport that is accepted and played by over 1 billion people we need guidance, support, and knowledge from the games inventors? America has always been a country that "adapts, overcomes, and improvises into a winner"
Goal of the Week
Growing up I had a brother who was 2 years younger and by the time we hit high school he was 6'6" and 210. He was always asked to play football or basketball but he didn't like those sports, he loved soccer and especially playing keeper. Two players on the Sounders love playing Soccer but are also fans of their younger brothers this time of year!
Assist of the Week
Soccer has always had an ugly side, fans can and do go to far. Hooliganism is rampant at times, and as we witnessed on Tuesday between Serbia and Italy it can stop a game and put fear in all that experiences it. Another part that isn't always shared with the average fan is what some players go through, The Serbian Keeper on Tuesday was in fear of his life!
Bike Ride of the Week
Might we see Marcus cruising to Qwest Field one day in his Jacked Up Jeep with his gun rack in the back window blasting Metallica?
Manchester United September Goals of the Month
We all know that Brazil has produced some of the best players in the world, these players start out young in Brazil. At 5 or 6 they are playing a game called Futsal which is indoor soccer played with a size 3 ball on a basketball court. Some of the skill, technique, and creativity that is learned from playing this game is amazing and breath taking. Falcao is the Master of them All!
