Friday 19th of November

This Sunday the MLS will crown the 2010 Champion and it will be a new one since neither Colorado or Dallas has ever won the MLS Cup. Dallas also has a relatively unknown coach who happens to know his stuff and can take a kick!!

Next year the MLS will have a "Reserve League" and each team will be able to carry 30 contracted players. Most of the reserve teams will come from the youth/academy teams each MLS Club has. Saturday at Starfire the Sounders U16 & U18 academy teams will be playing Crossfire at noon and 2:30pm. If your wondering what the Sounders will look like in a few years Saturdays games will give you a glimpse. This is also a great step for the USA as a whole to develop players from a young age in a professional environment in hopes of finding those gems that will help us win the World Cup before I die!!

One bit of history for soccer buffs, on this date 21 years ago the US soccer resurgence started with the "Shot heard round the World"!!

The "Goal that Wasn't" Great skill by Ronaldo, not so great by Nani!

Saturday is the "North London Derby" Tottenham vs. Arsenal, lets look back at the top 10 games from this series. The goals and announcers excitement bring it all together.
#1 Tottenham 0 – Arsenal 5, English Division 1, December 23, 1978. This was the main highlight from a famous 5-0 Arsenal win at White Hart Lane as John Motson went a little crazy: “Look at that… Oh look at that.” Brady showed off his brilliant left foot with a curling effort into the top corner.
#2 Tottenham 5 – Arsenal 0, English Division 1, April 4, 1983. Five years later Spurs got their revenge against the Gunners in front of their home support as the Arsenal defence crumbled and keeper George Wood had a nightmare match. Falco volleyed home superbly in a match where he would claim a brace.
#3 Tottenham 3 – Arsenal 1, FA Cup semi-final, April 14, 1991. Probably Gazza’s finest moment in a Spurs shirt as he would only play a short part of the 1991 FA Cup final. A cracking long range free-kick beat David Seaman and set Tottenham on their way to a surprise win over the eventual league champions.
#4 Tottenham 1 – Arsenal 3, Premier League, May 5, 1999. Arguably the best title race of the Premier League era saw Arsenal go to White Hart Lane in search of all three points to keep the pace up with Chelsea and Manchester United. Kanu embarrassed Luke Young with a scintillating piece of skill
#5 Arsenal 3 – Tottenham 0, Premier League, November 16, 2002. The French maestro enjoys playing against Spurs and even scored his first New York Red Bulls goal against Harry Redknapp’s side this past summer. The goal in 2002 was a classic example of Henry’s blistering pace and quality finishing, Sounders fans will notice that Kasey Keller is Tottenham's keeper on this day!
#6 Tottenham 1 – Arsenal 3, Premier League, September 15, 2007. The Welsh winger may be better known for his lung-bursting runs down the left wing but he can also strike a mean free-kick as this goal, early in his Spurs career, proves.
#7 Tottenham 1 – Arsenal 3, Premier League, September 15, 2007. From the same game, Adebayor scored a venomous goal which was probably his finest moment in an Arsenal shirt. The Togo striker completed the win with a blistering volley that gave Paul Robinson no chance.
#8 Arsenal 4 – Tottenham 4, Premier League, October 29, 2008. In Harry Redknapp’s second game as Spurs boss, the Lilywhites completed a remarkable 4-4 comeback having been 4-2 down with seconds remaining. The first goal, with Bentley scoring against his former club, is probably the most famous of the night.
#9 Arsenal 3 – Tottenham 0, Premier League, October 31, 2009. Known by some Arsenal fans as the “11 second game,” Fabregas sealed the victory just seconds after Robin van Persie had put the Gunners ahead. It was as if Tottenham conceded two goals in one fell swoop and they were comprehensively beaten.
#10 Tottenham 2 – Arsenal 1, Premier League, April 14, 2010. With Tottenham chasing a Champions League spot, they rebounded from an FA Cup semi-final defeat to Portsmouth with a battling win over the Gunners getting off to an incredible start as debutant Danny Rose knocked a howitzer back past Almunia.

MLS "Goal of the Year"

The World Cup vote is coming up and the announcement is December 2nd, but only 2 weeks before this happens the president of FIFA states "Collusion inevitable in WC voting" makes you wonder if any of it is legit?

It's not often that you can use your feet in Volleyball but when you do, it is considered a great play!!

US Soccer has a pretty extensive history dating back to the turn of the century, but much of it isn't known to the masses. Jason Davis does a great job to paint a picture and bring us into the past.
