The MLS re-entry draft version 2 is going to take place Wednesday at 11am, the first round allowed teams to draft players at their current contract prices, and as we saw with only 2 players drafted there wasn't much value. While players picked up in Stage 1 were signed to predetermined salary figures, those chosen in Stage 2 will enter negotiations for a new contract. Should no agreement be reached and an offer is made, the club will hold on to the player's rights in MLS.

Players not selected in Stage 2 of the Re-Entry Draft will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis to any team in the league and that is what I find the most interesting because most of the players on the list are past their prime and make a good amount of money by MLS standards, yet there are some players out there with value. The Sounders have Tyrone Marshall on this list and that could be very telling as to where he will be playing next year?

The FIFA Club World Cup is taking place in Abu Dhabi this week with one Semi-Final played today. TP Mazembe (Congo) vs. Internacional (Brazil) and in probably one of the biggest upsets yet in the tournaments history TP Mazembe has won 2-0 and the celebrations have begun! In a form of team unity TP Mazembe performs a communal prayer before each game and when they score they have probably the best "Goal Celebration" ever!!(Look for the keeper)

Barcelona vs. Real Sociedad (La Liga) 5-0 (Barcelona completed 983 passes)

Can't say I didn't see this coming, Philly didn't protect their 2 goalkeepers in the expansion draft and one of the two will be leaving before pre-season. In the meantime in comes the "Mondragon" another goalkeeper that should look at the MLS is on the move.

Goal of the Week Nominee

"Big Sam" has been let go, Blackburn was recently bought by Venky's Group (A $1 Billion dollar chicken group who knew?)so now Allardyce is left to talk like Scooby-Doo by saying "It's Rover n rout"

Real Madrid vs. Zaragoza (La Liga) 3-1

The US Men's National team will have it's annual January Camp then play Chile in Carson, Ca and after that they will fly to Cairo and play Egypt February 9th.

The Portland Timbers have yet to solidify their roster, but on Monday they made some moves that could help or make them say Timber!!!

Juventus vs. Lazio (Serie A) 2-1

The NBA is on the verge of buying the struggling New Orleans Hornets and the rumor is once that is done they will move them to Seattle? The big question here is "Would Seattle welcome an NBA team back, and would it interfere with Seattle's love affair with the Sounders?"

Lecce vs. Chievo (Serie A) 3-2

7 Days after Qatar was awarded the 2022 World Cup a partnership was announced via a shirt sponsorship deal between a Qatar non-for-profit charitable foundation. "$125 Million for 5 years" it makes you wonder if indeed vote buying has taken place?

AC Milan vs. Bologna (Serie A) 3-1

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a free kick last weekend against Zaragoza that was clocked at 105kph or 65mph and claimed it was the best free kick of his career. Lets take a look at 10 of his goals and make the call which is the best?

Freiburg vs. Monchengladbach (Bundesliga) 3-0

First he said that the "Voting was fair" then he called the English "Bad Losers" not Sepp Blatter is making it known if your preference is lets say different from most than you better refrain at the World Cup.

Heerenven vs. FC Twente (Eridivisie) 6-2 (Oussama Assaidi 3 goals 2 assists)

American Clint Dempsey was awarded with the "Sporting Moment of the Year" by the BBC for his goal against Juventus that put Fulham in the Quarterfinals of the Europa League.

Numancia vs. Valladolid (Segunda Divison Spain) 5-4

He started his professional career in 1992 at 16 years old, 18 years later he is the only player to win the Champions League with 3 different teams (he's actually won it 4 times) he has won league titles in Holland, Spain, and Italy and has over 700 first team appearances.
