3-17-11

Sounders lose season opener to LA Galaxy 1-0, post game news, notes, and quotes.

3 hours before the game news came out that Nkufo was benched for an incident in training, and then 60 minutes before the game starts it's arrivederci!(Rumor out of camp is that Nkufo showed up to preseason over weight, grumpy, and didn't get on with the Latin American contingent and the last straw was a fist fight with Miguel Montano in practice) Will Montero step up and lead the team?

If your a Sounders fan it had to be a Strange Night.

Chelsea vs. FC Copenhagen, Real Madrid vs. Lyon, watch online here.

Seattle Sounders 0 – LA Galaxy 1 (MLS, March 15, 2011)

Every season ticket holder with the Seattle Sounders is given a scarf with their tickets, the company that provides those scarfs is from Seattle.

Goal of the Week Nominee

Sir Alex isn't afraid to speak his mind, he did that recently and the EPL has banned him for 5 games. This comes at a big time in Manchester United chase for the treble!

Manchester United 2 – Marseille 1 (Agg. 2-1) (Champions League last 16 second leg, March 15, 2011)

He played competitive soccer when he was young but quit when he entered high school, but his dream has always been to play soccer? Now Chad "I have an ego" Ochocinco is trying out for Sporting KC in the MLS?

Bayern Munich 2 – Inter Milan 3* (Agg. 3-3) (Champions League last 16 second leg, March 15, 2011)

Real Madrid was knocked out of the Copa del Rey, they are probably not gonna win La Liga, so the Champions League is their last hope for silverware this year. Lets look at 4 things we have learned about Los Blancos.

Bike ride of the Week

If you watch soccer and especially the EPL you surely know who Carlos Tevez is right? Well he is not a very attractive man (I should know because I'm not either) but with that said he is also a professional soccer player and with that comes all sorts of critics and invasion of privacy and it is generally accepted, but for Carlos it all changed when he was dubbed Ugly on TV!

Real Salt Lake 2 – Deportivo Saprissa 0 (CONCACAF Champions League, March 15, 2011)

February 23rd next year I will be sitting in Sunny Hawaii sipping a beer watch Soccer!

Tackle of the Week

The world of Soccer Agents can be shady and secretive, but teams also use them Liverpool used the services of a little-known agent, David Bromley, who is based in Maidstone, Kent, when they signed Andy Carroll from Newcastle United for £35m on 31 January. Carroll himself stated on his contract that he did not use the services of an agent at all; a solicitor, Richard Green, said he had advised him.

Milan vs. Bari (very strange pre-game rituals)

The buzz is that MLS will expand to a 20th team in 2013 with the NY Cosmos leading the race for that entry. My question is after that will they continue to grow or will we see relegation come into play with the USL leagues?

Sepahan 5 – Al-Jazira 1 (AFC Champions League, March 15, 2011)

In the late 80's soccer in England was at a low point. Then at Manchester City's home opener in 1987 a 5 foot inflatable Banana appeared, it was "The Banana that almost saved Soccer".
