Goals of the Week
The 2011 MLS playoffs are just getting underway, but for teams that weren’t able to qualify for the post-season, the important work of the off-season has already begun, a major part of which is preparing for January’s MLS Draft.
Anyone who has played soccer has had a moment of brilliance on the training ground. It's where the move they have been trying to perfect actually works or where the free kick bends like they want. Rarely in a game do those kicks, tricks, and flicks come off as you want, but this one came off silky smooth!!
The 21-year-old has scored seven goals in all competitions for the Dutch side since joining the club from Villarreal during the summer transfer window, helping it gain control of top spot in the Eredivisie table with 25 points from 10 matches.
This next "Goal of the Week Nominee" comes to us from Brazil and is pure class on a whole different level!! Nutmeg to a Maradonna to a Goal!!
Here is a look ahead to what the "Americans Abroad" have on their plate for the weekend.

He won a World Cup, he coached in a World Cup, and now where does he want to go?
Athletic Bilbao 3 – Atletico Madrid 0 (La Liga, October 27, 2011)
Over the past couple of months, international footy nerds in the US have been treated to fun story of the sort-of-USMNT that has been making waves in World Cup qualifying. Of course, I'm talking about none other than the might US Virgin Islands, whose early success over their rivals was one of the great early stories on the road to Brazil 2014. Their is another minnow in the Sea!
Zenit St Petersburg 3 – Volga 0 (Russian Premier League, October 27, 2011)
When the U.S. call in its roster for the upcoming U-20 and U-23 megacamp in Germany, one player that should be there is Borussia Dortmund’s Terrence Boyd.
Goal of the Week Nominee
With each passing fixture, Madrid takes another step toward fully realizing Mourinho's vision: a mixture of pragmatic football, beautiful football and, above all, winning football. Could this be the side that finally knocks Barcelona off its perch? Madrid supporters have reasons to be optimistic, even if it is early in the season.
Goal of the Week Nominee
Anton Ferdinand last night spoke for the first time about the gathering storm surrounding John Terry’s alleged racial slur against the Queens Park Rangers defender, describing it as a “crazy” week.
