Friday 7 October 2011

Seattle has 2 more home games left (There will probably be a few playoff home games), Kasey Keller has 2 more regular season home games left. October 15th will be an amazing emotional night for sure and the Sounders just announced that 55,000 seats have been sold so far!!

175 days. That's how long David Estrada had to wait between MLS appearances this season. The first game for the second-year Sounders FC midfielder was on April 2 in San Jose.

Seattle is pretty much assured of 2nd place in the western division and still holds a slim chance of the supporters shield. News and notes from Thursday's practice.

Big games in Europe today, it's also International Friendlies and World Cup qualifiers, follow them online here.

Goals of the Week!

By Tuesday evening we'll know the 12 of the 16 nations which will participate at Euro 2012. Poland and Ukraine will be there as hosts of the tournament, while Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Spain can already book their flights. Though mathematically Netherlands could still finish below Sweden in Group E, they would be guaranteed the remaining automatic spot as the best runner-up.

Soccer AM "Showboating"

The USA will play Honduras Saturday night in an International friendly. With all the changes and opportunities Klinsmann has been shown, who should start the game? Two starters for sure will be "The German" Timothy Chandler and Michael Bradley "The Italian"

Blazer told the Associated Press that he'll be resigning from his post in December after a 21-year run in the position. Blazer added that he will maintain his position on FIFA's executive committee, for which he won't potentially be up for re-election until 2013.

Skill Show part 2!

Word is out that many teams from England, Spain, France, and Brazil have offered "Golden Balls" a contract for next season. His current club LA Galaxy have offered $8.9 Million for 1 year, it would also be in his best interest to stay in the goold old USA since his income is up %30 this year!

Vancouver Whitecaps 3 – Real Salt Lake 0 (MLS, October 6, 2011)

Carlos Tevez may be in search of a new team soon? He won't find one here, but he could be on his way to join the highest paid player in the world.

Cruzeiro 3 – Sao Paulo 3 (Campeonato Brasileiro, October 5, 2011)

Last Sunday in the German second division, Greuther Furth maintained their position on top of the table with a 2-2 draw at Karlsruher.

The visitors needed just 19 minutes to forge ahead in the match, and the goal was a sublime solo stunner from 25-year-old midfielder Heinrich Schmidtgal.

Schmidtgal picked up possession just past the halfway line, and immediately he started waltzing past Karlsruher players. One, then another, then another two, before finally reaching the edge of the hosts box.

As soon as he had a clear sight of goal, Schmidtgal then released a fierce, low left-footed daisycutter that did the damage.

It's not often I bring you goals from the Second Division of the Ukranian league. This goal is a nicely taken volley from the top of the 18, even better is the announcer going crazy!
