Tuesday 18 October 2011

Today I am a VERY PROUD Dad! Back in August I took my son to a Washington State Youth Soccer tryout for their EPD (Elite Player Development)3 call backs later Vinny D will be representing Washington State for the next year!!

Seattle plays Monterrey tonight in their final group stage match of the CONCACAF Champions League. Having already qualified for the quarterfinals Seattle will have the ability to rest some players and give others an opportunity.

“What I can say is that just like the electricity, it will be divisive,” Hanauer said. “Some people will love it. Some people will hate it. It is not going to be gray. Other than that, people have to wait until it leaks.”

MLS has one more game left in the regular season and a one spot in the playoffs up for grabs!

USA will play France November 11th and also Slovenia November 15th in a rematch of the highly contested 2010 World Cup game.

Champions League Tuesday Preview, catch the scores here or watch online here.

Arsenal 2 – Sunderland 1 (Premier League, October 16, 2011)(2 amazing goals by Van Persie)

A lot was said about Bob Bradley selecting his son to the US National team, some called it nepotism, some called it favouritism, I called it a good choice because Michael Bradley can play. I wonder what those same people will say about Klinsmann's son being called into the USA's U15 National team?

Manchester City 4 – Aston Villa 1 (Premier League, October 15, 2011) (Balotelli Bike)

A British soccer official stirred up a hornet’s nest Monday by charging that some of the foreign owners who have bought into England’s Premier League have been meeting behind the scenes to discuss a plan to end the practice of relegation and promotion.

Bike of the Week

New England is having a horrible year and changes need to be made. Could those changes start with the manager or players?

Real Madrid 4 – Real Betis 1 (La Liga, October 15, 2011) (Hattrick for Higuain)

Bids are due on Wednesday, and whatever the ratings appeal of MLS, the World Cup has become a tv juggernaut. Americans love an event, and the television success enjoyed by ESPN in 2010 suggests that there are significant opportunities as the beautiful game gains an increasing foothold in the United States.

AC Milan 3 – Palermo 0 (Serie A, October 15, 2011)

Over the course of history, repressive governments tend to have common characteristics that define their operations and their impact on the world. If I asked you to list them, you could probably tick most of them off in short order. In many ways, FIFA is just such an organization.

Bayern Munich 4 – Hertha Berlin 0 (Bundesliga, October 15, 2011)

I went to see Moneyball over the weekend, you know the story about how the Oakland A's used statistics to pick players and had a pretty good year. Many have asked "Has Soccer had it's Moneyball moment?"

Kilmarnock 3 – Celtic 3 (SPL, October 15, 2011)

"I have had a lot of offers and I must say that I'm amazed that, at my age, I have had so many. Its been a bit of a surprise," he told the Daily Telegraph.

Ajax 2 – AZ Alkmaar 2 (Eredivisie, October 15, 2011)(Opening 2 saves worth your time)

The figures don't just show it, they shout it. World Cup qualification in South America is more competitive than anywhere else on the planet.

RKC Waalwijk 0 – FC Twente 4 (Eredivisie, October 15, 2011)

"My wife and I chose to give our first two children Vincenzo and Domenico the names of our parents," Pasquale Contento told Il Mattino. "For the third we wanted a suggestive name but at the same time one that was rich in affection, and from there the decision was made to call him Diego Armando like our idol Maradona."

Anderlecht 5 – Standard Liege 0 (Jupiler League, October 16, 2011)
